Marcel Wanders Inducted into Interior Design Hall of Fame

Find out what drives his unique creativity

by Haworth, Inc.

Each year, Interior Design inducts new members into its Hall of Fame. Being nominated is an incredible honor and the Hall of Fame recognizes designers who have made significant contributions to the growth and prominence of the design industry. According to Interior Design editor in chief, Cindy Allen, “Hall of Fame inductees have the uncanny ability to push beyond, and their talent is matched only by a desire to create the new and the next. Their collective work is also grounded in a deep sense of humanity, that has impacted their clients, communities, and the greater world."

Among the 2018 inductees is Marcel Wanders, whom The New York Times described as “the Lady Gaga of the design world: a constant font of ideas and energy that is nearly impossible to ignore.”

Designer of the iconic Haworth Collection™ Wanders’ Tulip chair for Cappellini, Marcel works with multiple brands, including Alessi, Baccarat, Bisazza, Christofle, Kosé Corporation, Flos, KLM, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Louis Vuitton, Morgans Hotel Group, Puma, and Swarovski.

People want more out of design than function and simplicity. Marcel is designing for humanity, building hope where there is illusion, and crafting personal objects that make dreams come true. He believes in the importance of materials—what they can do, how they are produced, and how they are processed.

Haworth wishes to extend our congratulations to Marcel for the honour he has received and thank him for his incredible contributions to the Haworth Collection.
